Lucky Adventure

hi! A layering challenge has been posted by Finnabair at Mixed Media Academy. After making a canvas and then my Angel ( on the previous post) I wanted to try my hand at a page. I wanted to layer up quite a few things and keep it masculine and updated to use a photo of my son in our recent trip to Mexico.
Here's my take on the challenge

A bit of my layering process!

I used fabric and then I used a stencil all using the light paste before covering with black gesso
Details

Here I'm using one of the currencies of Mexico as part of my collage.  A couple of artifacts and relics from Sandra Evertson made the cut as well since they had a masculine feel too

I used the mechanicals to help me with my title " Lucky adventure "!

I hope you get a chance to play

My Art is a Journey

Hi everyone! It seems this month has flew by so fast.   August is almost done but still there's time to play in some of the challenges out there.
Helen Tibury just recently pointed this one out for me and boy it's a typesetting one!! Here's the link /scrapki-wyzwaniowo august-challenge-typesetting
I decided to create an Alpha Angel and with the help of a lot of Finnabair's mechanicals and art ingredients I think I have accomplished that!
Here she is
You gotta love a challenge that helps you get rid of those unused alphas, right?
For the base I used up remaining letters from 4 different brands but when worked up you just can't tell the difference!
More details
For my wings I used Jamie Dougherty Bloom stencil and the front was done with a new alpha stencil by TCW
Here's the back view
I found this perfect abalone button and I used it!
This old word by Pink Paislee was found among the unused letters so there it went as well
It's very symbolical and you will find my names initials in a lot of places, totally on purpose!
I hope this project gives you some ideas for those letters orphaned out there!

Right before the beggining of classes for my daughter our own special closure, if you will of our summer vacation.  Right before going boarding the boat back to the mainland I look down and took this selfie.

A Beautiful Life

Today I was playing with a little canvas, some lace and watercolors. It got me thinking that my little experiment in pink and gold would work for Scrap Around the World new mood board if I tried the caramel with acqua. So I started experimenting again. Looking into the mood board you can see the soft blue undertones among the caramel ones so I went with that!
This is the mood board I wanted to take a look to see if I matched the mood appropriately
Now on to some details

I like not being in contro of how the watercolors will react, always a mistery that never disappoints!
I liked it so much I framed it!
Thanks for the visit!

Dream

Hi everyone! It's a sunny Monday here I my island. Today I bring you a word we all could use: Dream.  We all have one or two and we must never forget it!  I'm entering the /mixedmediaplace creative-gym-exercise-10 using this word. Here's my piece!
And some details
I loved the contrast the threaded words bring to Finnabair true sentiment stamps!
I love how the blush micro beads transform themselves into pink or orange because of the clear pieces in it!
Here's the challenge prompt so very cool

I hope you too make some time to play!

Vacation

Hi everyone it's a fine Sunday and we are spending time with my parents I law   The new sketch at the Prima blog made by Riika is a beauty I wanted to keep it clean  taking my cues from the water looks on the sketch. The fancy painterly feeling in it.  I used Prima watercolor pencils, Prima bloom sprays and Finnabair mica powder all in shades of tranquil teals
Here's my take
After priming my card stock I embossed 3 big blooms with white. I wanted them to show through after my watercolor wash
I used the pencil for the light blue and opened my spray bottle to use a paint brush for the side to side swish
The brads and enamel dots are from one of my all time fave collection by Prima released last summer and perfect for beach moments!
The green Prima wire gives movement and the embossed Aqua dots were done with a Finnabair stamp
I stamped my title with sticky embossing powder and a brush coat of teal mica powder.  The glow on the title is fantastic
Here's the sketch!
